A new year coming

By Patricia Skinner, 2020-12-30
 A new year coming

Greetings everyone. Boy this year has been something else!!! Almost glad it is almost over. We have had some tough moments early on. In the Spring, our 27yro grandson had not 1 but 2 heart attacks and 2 open heart surgeries. Plus his body was riddled with at least 3 different infections. Good news-God brought him through it all. We still have him. In June I tested positive for the covid-19. I had a mild case and since we had warm weather I spent most of my time on my patio getting as much vitamin D from the sun. Drank lots of liquids, took multivitamin supplements, lots of organic chicken broth and soup and did sage steams. Then the Lord in spite of the pandemic, blessed us financially and God gave me my hearts desire of a particular suite suitable for my own studio so that I can relaunch my Patspraze Gospel Music program. Today is my 70th birthday and I am thankful that I am in relatively good health to continue doing my Father's work. Praying for His leading in the new year....

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving-. It is supposed to be a time of love and gratitude-hospitality-a time of sharing with family and friends. Unfortunately it isn't always a time of celebration. For some it comes at time of loneliness - people who no longer have loved ones close for any number of reasons. Or when the family is dysfunctional such in the case of divorce - addictions - misunderstandings. Steve and I experienced this first hand this year - seeing some of our family members torn apart and rifts within the family. We chose to spend it alone without all the drama. But thanks to our Pastor our thanksgiving day was redeemed when he asked us to take a meal to an elderly person living alone. It made our day to visit with this person-stepping outside of our comfort zone and giving of ourselves to someone else. We were THANK(S)ful that we could do our part by GIVING to someone else. It isn't about us and what we get or don't get. It is about what we can give to others...

God Created Music!

God Created Music!

  God Created Music!

All through the Bible you can read about it. God sent the musicians and the singers before the Israelites around the walls of Jericho.  The Book of Psalms is actually a book of songs.  When we are happy, we feel a “melody in our hearts.”

When we are perplexed or anxious, if we listen to soothing music or songs that have a positive message, we feel calm and uplifted. King Saul, when he was troubled with an evil spirit sent for A young man named David who could play skillfully on a harp. As David played his harp, the evil spirit departed from King Saul.

Down through the ages God has inspired men and women to write beautiful songs of praise to Him. These songs need a  voice,...

Spring

By Patricia Skinner, 2015-03-11
Spring

I realize by the calendar that Spring isn't offically here, but today it sure feels like it.  I love Spring. Nature revives herself from her winters hybernation and springs forth with new life, new hope for recreation and the smells and colors of new beginnings...the birds return, singing praise for the new day, little buds burst forth on the trees with the promise of new leaves, new fruit. The grass returns from it's brown dormant state and shoots forth blades of green.

Just like Spring, my spirit now springs forth with new hope, regeneration after what seemed like an eternity of cold, dark, winter. Just like the birds my soul wants to burst out with song in praise for the refreshing God has brought into my life. I am ready to go forth into the world (or maybe just outside on my front porch) and breathe in the awesomeness of a new season, full of God's promises and hope for better things to come.  "O Lord My God...how great thou art..."
